Seven Psychopaths (2012)

In Brief: Marty(Colin Farrel) is a screenwriter in LA, struggling with his latest script, Seven Psychopaths, but his having trouble getting past the title. He doesn't want to write a story about violence with huge gun battles, he wants something more akin to a love story. Marty's friend, Billy (Sam Rockwell, not dancing), tries to be supportive, while keeping his occupation of Dog Napping with associate Hans(Christopher Walken), but when he grabs the dog of known gangster, Charlie(Woody Harrelson), things get complicated.

Seven Psychopaths is Director Martin McDonagh follow up effort to 'In Bruges(2008)', and Psychopaths  every bit the riot that it was. Filling the key roles with great versatile actors. Sam Rockwell own's the role of Billy, Marty's friend that isn't entirely on the level. He plays the role with so many layers, that the character is a bit of a maze. Christopher Walken is no slouch in his role either, delivering well with a mix of light comedy and drama, and those distant stares his known for. It's funny how distinctive Walken is as a actor, you always know its him, but never the less, seemingly doing the same thing, he seems to bring something new to each role. Farrel's role is more that of the straight man, among the craziness of events happening around him, and writing it down.
There's some great short stories taking place within the story, any they can be quite humorous and thoughtful at times. McDonagh managed to make a solid script, that pokes fun at the weaknesses of many Action films, while keeping to them at the same times.
It's a beautifully shot film. The score doesn't over take any scene, but it doesn't leave a lasting impact either. and that might be the only real weakness of the film.

Seven Psychopaths is a great action comedy, that skews a bit to the dark side of things at times. Not Necessarily for the squeamish, as there's a bit of blood, but well worth admission/rental.
