Brave (2012)

Let me get this out of the way... PPIIIXXXXAAAAARRRRRR!!!!!!!
Sorry, bit of a fan. on the quick, I really enjoyed the film, its not Pixars best film, but its doesn't feature talking Cars, so its nowhere near its worst (Irrational hatred for the Cars franchise, right here, even beyond them being really average films).
Brave is a film set around 10th century Scotland, where a Merida (Kelly McDonald), a Vibrant, Energetic and maybe a little bit wild Princess (Really has a fantastic head of hair too, go Red!). But she's coming of age, and her very Prim and proper Mother (Emma Thompson) and her Warrior father (Billy Connolly) go about arranging her married. Merida, not happy with the situation, goes about trying to 'change her fate'.

Prometheus (2012)

Saw this a week or two back, at Imax, didn't care to write about it at the time, but i will now, because we have the technology!
So, Prometheus, Directed by Sir Ridley Scott, is the somewhat awaited prequel to his Horror/Sci-fi classic 'Alien' he Directed some thirty one years ago(?), about the search for the origins of the human race, and what could lead to they're downfall. There's a lot of bitching on this wide wired world of ours, not that the film doesn't live up to expectations, but that it doesn't answer the questions it sets out to ask and that it's got some massive plot holes. My take, after the break. They're will be spoiler-ish bits.

the Cabin in the Woods (2010/2012)

The Cabin in the Woods, the often delayed Joss Weadon/Drew Goddard collaboration shot in 2009, delayed by plan's for a 3D conversion, studio bankruptcy and other reasons beyond my general knowledge. But its here, now, and two months ago or so across the globe, Thanks to Liongate, and in Australia, thanks to Roadshow (You know, after fan outrage that the film was pulled from its July 12 slot to a unspecified straight to DVD date, and then placed in limited run as of June 14). A lots been said, and maybe for the best part unsaid, and its built alot of expectation. Does it deliver?

National Theater Live: Frankenstein (2011)

Now this is a little harder to review, as its a recording of something your suppose to be seeing on a stage. That might not sound like a reason for this to be 'hard', but they're really too different experiences. Cinema's and Theater's do have a different atmosphere about that, and while a film production is able to duck and weave around the action to constantly give you a good view, a stage production has to make more of a impact based on your static angle, and also, no one in they're right mid would pull out a god damn mobile phone in a theater.

So I'll keep this short, NTL's Frankenstein is directed by Danny Boyle, adapted for the stage by Nick Deer, and Stars Benedict  Cumberbatch  (Sherlock in BBC's modern Day Sherlock) and Johnny Lee Miller (Sherlock Holmes in Americans attempt to transplant the detective to modern day America). The fun part of this is,  Cumberbatch  and Miller alternate roles between Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. Last year i saw Miller as the Creature and Cumberbatch as Frankenstein, and today i saw the other take. Love'd it.
The set and Costume designs are brilliant, although, i could see the ends of Cumberbatch's bald cap at a couple of points. Both actors do brilliantly in they're roles, and i'm honestly interested in seeing it again. Here's hoping they pop it out on DVD. (The National Theatre Live website states that for the time being, they're wont be any, as the performers contracts didn't stipulate it)

The Innkeepers (2011)

The Innkeepers is a really cheap looking film. I honestly half expect when I bother to Google it, find out it was made for a very modest budget and edited in windows movie maker. One of the first things I noted when the film started was that the credits seemed to use Time New Roman, For the record, in my opinion, Time New Roman always looks cheap and very basic. So, once the film actually starts past its opening credits, it feels like a improvement. So, lets put the breakdown of the story shall we?
The Innkeepers is a ghost story, set at the Yankee Pedlar Inn in a unspecified time frame (only reason I feel thats worth mentioning is that the technology in the film seems really dated, late 90's maybe) and centers around the two staff members, Claire (Sarah Paxton) and Luke (Pat Healey) on hand during its last weekend of operation. The staff see this weekend as they're last chance to get proof behind the fabled haunting of the Inn.

Men in Black 3 (2012)

Men in Black 3 comes some 15 years after the original Men in Black (1997, Good Year), and 10 years after its sequel, the aptly named Men in Black 2 (2002, not a good year for the MiB), and the big difference between the three, Will Smith isn't doing a single for it? It's not a better film then the original, but is it any worse then what came before?
