Your Sisters Sister (2011)

In Breif: Jack (Mark Duplass) life is a mess, still struggling with his brothers death a year on, his Best Friend, Iris (Emily Blunt), decides he needs some alone time, to contemplate his life and move on, and tells him to go to her family holiday house. When Jack arrives, He finds Iris sister Hannah (Rosemarie DeWitt) drowning her sorrows after walking out on a 7 year relationship. They Drink, They Fornicate, and deal with the fallout.

Going into 'Your Sisters Sister' i was expecting it to be... Funnier? Not to say it doesn't have its share of laughs, but its more a drama upfront. The Humor is rather dry for the most part. At a point, One character is recounting a story about Jacks brother to a room full of people, only for jack to seemingly tear down the idea of who these people think his brother was, with a similar story of a more conniving brother. It's early on, and helps to set the tone of the film nicely.
The films 3 lead performers all do a great job with they're roles, each dealing with they're own issues nicely and in  a realisitc way. The way some of the characters use each other to fill a selfish desire, and then the dawning realization that in doing so, they've potentially hurt someone they care about feels fairly natural. Duplass performance his fairly understated while Blunt is given more in the way of emotional range, but these opposites go with the characters we've been presented and told about, and DeWitt sort of goes between the two.
There's some great scenery in this film, and a sense of isolation from the rest of the world once the story gets started, and there's a real sense of calm to the outside world, compared to the havoc thats about to be unleashed inside.
Interestingly, the first thing i noticed when the film ended, was the core cast listed as creative consultants on the film, i suspect this is largely attributed to the apparently improvised script, that really helps speak volumes of the actors for creating such relate able characters
