Wolf Children(2012)

In Breif:
Hanna, a College student, meets and falls in love with a mysterious loner , who drifts into one of her classes. Intrigued, Hanna follows him, and the two strike up a relationship. Soon, the Loner reveals a secret he has never told anyone before. He's the last descendant of a Wolf Clan, and is able to transform into a Wolf. The two continue they're romance and the pair have a daughter, Yuki, and the following year, a Son, Ame. Shortly after Ame's birth, the children's father has a accident, leaving Hanna to raise they're children alone.

Mamoru Hosoda (Girl who leapt through time (2006), Summer Wars (2009)) brings us another story about a unusual family, this time though, it's a little more  heartfelt, and a little more focused on its characters and less on a event. It has some spectacular moments of emotion, and does a terrific job of building it's characters and giving them defining moments. But, it does feel like it drags on at point, running just short of 2 hours.
The first half of the story, focuses on the building relationship between Hanna and the Children's father, and the early days of the children years, and the issues Hanna has raising such unique children without an appropriate support or knowledge network.
The second half of the story focuses more on the children Yuki, who embraces her wolf side, and Ame who shuns it, and how they children grown and they're priorities change as they get older.
There's a real nice detail, in the earlier parts of the film, with the two as young children, especially in the animation, and that's sometimes something that seems to be rushed over. There's a delicacy at time, while others, a manic joy.

Wolf children is well worth checking out if your a fan of animations, i wouldn't say the story breaks new ground, but it does have a story that can get to you at points, and i think that's always worth the price of a ticket.

Kinda forgot to write this earlier, I though i had, but i'd seen this about 3 weeks ago.
