Silver Linings Playbook (2012), Lincoln (2012)

In Brief, Silver Linings Playbook: Pat (Bradley Cooper), has Just finished up his 8 mandatory months in a institution after being diagnosed as Bi Polar . He move's into his parents(Jacki Weaver and Robert De Niro) attic, Trying to turn his life around, he's started exercising, and starts reading his estranged wife's high school curriculum, in a effort to show he's changed and win her back. While having dinner at a friends house, He meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a vibrant, and troubled young woman who's coming to terms with her  husbands death.
In Brief, Lincoln:  President Abraham Lincoln (Daniel Day Lewis), Pushes to get the 13th amendment introduced before the start of his second term, in a effort to abolish Slavery and put an End to the Civil War. With Secretary of State William Seward (David Strathairn) trying to arrange Democratic Senators to vote for the Amendment.
 Silver Linings Playbook
The trailers for this film, poorly represents what it is, or maybe it comes down to the audience, but i don't think this film was anywhere near the romantic comedy that the advertisers made it out to be. Its a dramatic movie, about dealing with a mental illness, and trying to pick up the pieces after a mistake blows things out of proportion.
The films leads Cooper and Lawrence really deliver some surprisingly intense performances, more so then ever before, and the supporting cast deliver similarly. Although, Robert De Niro seem's over the top quite often. One of the failings of the film, is that just about every character seems to have some form or Metal illness or tick, with characters displaying Bi-Polar, Depressing, Obsessive Compulsion. You could just about make a bingo sheet and check them off.
Ultimately though, the film is kind of forgettable. I've come at this about 3 weeks after watching it, and I'm struggling to remember it.

Lincoln
Lincoln could have been a much better movie then it is now, if it had stuck more to the politics and moved away from the family focus, It might have been a even better film if it wasn't focused on its titular character, and just on the battle to bring in the XIII amendment. That's not to say that the material there isn't good, or well performed in the family life of Abraham Lincoln, there are some parts that really are, but the family life as a whole feels more like a distraction to the main event.
The scene's in the house of representatives, can be electric, with a great number of character actors from film and television coming together to represent both parties, some coming off like great villains. Tommy Lee Jones as Thaddeus Stevens and Lee Pace as Fernando Wood are near the top of they're game and James Spader as William Bilbo and David Strathairn as William Stewart working behind the scenes, trying to get votes flipped are fantastic as well. And of course, Daniel Day Lewis, who can't help but become the roles he plays, is beyond amazing as the titular character.
